Education Programs

Our education programs provide financial support to talented but economically disadvantaged youth, enabling them to pursue secondary and tertiary education. We partner and collaborate with scholarship institutions and organizations to ensure that vulnerable students from marginalized communities have access to the education they need to improve their prospects.

For young adults who missed formal schooling, Youth Development Project Ghana offers basic literacy and numeracy classes aimed at equipping them with foundational skills necessary for personal and professional development. These classes are organized in partnership with local organizations, schools, and individuals and run on a weekly basis for 12 months for each cohort in respective communities. This approach provides essential education opportunities to adults who have previously been excluded from the formal education system.

In addition, YDP Ghana donates study materials including textbooks, exercise books, writing materials, and other educational resources to support students in public educational institutions in underserved communities. Beyond material support, we actively promote students’ educational well-being by engaging them in activities that strengthen their interest and love for learning. These include reading clubs, mentorship sessions, academic motivation talks, and interactive learning activities designed to encourage consistent school attendance and positive attitudes toward education.

Under this program, we also support and mobilize resources for the renovation and improvement of educational facilities in rural and underserved communities where learning environments are inadequate or non-existent. We work with community leaders and stakeholders to identify critical infrastructure needs and actively engage relevant government agencies and authorities such as the District Education Service and Members of Parliament—to bring attention to these challenges and advocate for accountability and sustained investment in educational development.
This approach not only improves access to safe and conducive learning environments but also promotes youth development and empowerment by encouraging young people to understand their rights, engage constructively with public institutions, and participate in efforts that shape the quality of education in their communities. Through this process, young people are exposed to civic responsibility, leadership, and collective action, reinforcing the link between education, active citizenship, and sustainable development.

Our education programs contribute directly to Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4), which seeks to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

Ultimately, these education initiatives are designed to empower young people not only to improve their literacy and educational outcomes but also to actively engage in community dialogue and policy-related discussions. We are intentionally building a generation of informed, confident, and capable young people who can contribute meaningfully to national development while improving their own life prospects
